The Gokyo Lakes are considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. About 500 Hindus take a holy bath in the lakes during the Janai Purnima festival, which usually occurs in the month of August.

This 3 months journey through the Himalayas was excellent, but spending 4 months in the Congo was even better :
First off, amazing photo! This is going to become my new wallpaper
I did not rate originality very high because, well, its not very original. I have seen reflection pictures countless times. Although with yours, you have captured an almost perfect 50/50 split with the reflection. I really appreciate the high contrast and BnW. I wish the water was a little more reflective and calm though. I can see into the water and see whats below. It kind of throws of the image you were trying to capture. We can't always get the weather to agree with us (ripples in the water) so I wont talk about that.
This is an amazing photo, but it is not perfect. It is very rare to capture the perfect photo, but you did a pretty good job. Your picture has presence and impact, and thats what matters.
What appeals me the most of this picture is its sheer simpleness. The decision to make the horizon cut just about the middle made this photo very calm and pleasing to look at. The horizontal symmetry is beautiful, as wel as the slight ripple in the water that makes this photo less clinical. I wonder how this would have looked without the desaturation, but I think it was a good decision to not take this in colour, because it probably would have taken up too much attention to enjoy the shapes symmetry of this photo. Keep up the great work!
